Join the March for Independence on 22 September

Demonstrating for a Scottish Republic in 2014

In just over two weeks time, Edinburgh will witness the largest gathering of pro-independence forces in Scotland for decades, with the March and Rally for Independence taking place on Saturday 22 September. Although called by non-affiliated individuals, the march has since received backing from Yes Scotland and will be the first major event on either side of the debate since the launch of the official Yes and No campaigns earlier this year. This means that all eyes – particularly in the media – will be watching how successful it is. It’s therefore hugely important for everyone who supports independence that the march is as big and vibrant as possible, and provides a boost to the Yes campaign over the coming months.

We’ll be using the day to highlight our transformative, radical vision of independence as well as promoting the conference itself. We’re pleased to announce that Suki Sangha, a member of the STUC youth committee and a RIC launch signatory, will be joining Alex Salmond, Margo MacDonald, Dennis Canavan and many others at the rally, to speak of behalf of RIC. Fellow Radical Independence supporters Patrick Harvie MSP from the Scottish Greens, Ross Greer on behalf of Youth and Students for Independence, and Isobel Lindsay, Scottish CND, will also be addressing the rally on the day.

Transport is available from across Scotland – see the march website here for details. A 50 percent price reduction is available for unwaged, students and under 16s.

Youth and Students for Independence are organising a youth bloc on the demo – see the facebook event here for details.

The demo meets  at 11am in the Meadows, with a rally from 1pm in Princes Street Gardens.
